Mary Scott Nabers – Collaboration Nation Book Signing July 24, 2012 at Book People Austin TX

Mary Scott Nabers, AuthorA recognized expert regarding public-private partnerships (P3s), Mary Scott Nabers is the author of Collaboration Nation, How Public-Private Ventures Are Revolutionizing the Business of Government. Her book explores this growing trend and how government at all levels is reaching out to private enterprise for innovative ideas that will result in solutions to increasing problems caused by revenue shortfalls.

How government operates is going through a revolution that will result in an estimated $3 trillion of new business opportunities for private enterprise. Cities are outsourcing functions as mundane as parking garages; public-private partnerships are forming to replace aging bridges and other infrastructure projects; and government at all levels is looking to private enterprise to streamline operations and invent solutions to stubborn problems. Governments at all levels have to rethink how they deliver services and what services can be more efficiently delivered in collaboration with private enterprise. Nabers, who served for more than a decade as a statewide executive, pulls back the curtain on what makes government officials tick, the practical and political cross-currents that are unique challenges to doing business with government, and how to bridge the cultural divide between public officials and corporate executives who live in different worlds, speak different languages, and have distinctly different ways of doing business.

Mary Scott Nabers served for a decade in senior executive roles in Texas state government before starting Strategic Partnerships, Inc. in 1994, a large, national consulting practice that helps Fortune 100 clients identify and win billion-dollar government contracts. After a long career as an entrepreneur-owner of media properties, she served eight years on the Texas Workforce Commission, representing the interests of 380,000 companies in dealings with government, followed by a two-year stint on the powerful Texas Railroad Commission under Governor Ann Richards.

Mary is also co-founder of the Gemini Global Group, which specializes in business development services, public-private partnership positioning and opportunity identification in any region and at any level of government.
